Dog owner done!
In the Sydney Morning Herald this morning: dog-moron gets done!
A man has been charged by police after his pet dog allegedly attacked and killed a cat in Sydney's east.
Police allege the Pitbull-Staffordshire Terrier cross was unmuzzled and not on a leash when it attacked the cat, which was in the front yard of its home, in Matraville on Thursday.
Several people saw the attack and alerted police, and detectives from the Eastern Beaches local area command arrested the 32-year-old dog owner at his home in Matraville on Tuesday.
The man was with his pet dog at the time of the attack but police say he did not restrain the animal correctly. Pitbull-Staffordshire Terriers are subject to restricted dog rules that require them to be muzzled and on a leash at all times when in a public place.
The dog owner was charged with four offences under the Companion Animals Act, including being in charge of an uncontrolled dangerous dog in a public place.
He was granted conditional bail to appear in Waverley Local Court on February 2.
Police are liaising with Randwick City Council about the destruction of the dog.

I've just seen your advert on TV, the one with the dog running ahead of its handler. I note that the dog is off leash, which is against the law, except in a designated off leash area. I wouldn't want to think that you either broke the law in filming the advert, or endorse this noxious middle class habit of ignoring dog laws, to the endangerment and discomfort of many children and elderly.
If you did break the law, I suggest that you forward the fine to the Office of State Revenue. It is $1100 for having a dog off a leash in public.
